Abstract

Various lifestyle practices, including physical exercise and intermittent fasting, are gaining recognition as effective methods to improve health and well-being. For instance, the obligatory fasting observed during the lunar month of Ramadan is a religious observance in Islam that healthy individuals across the Arab World partake in each year. The daily avoidance of food and beverages (from sunrise to sunset) during Ramadan exemplifies intermittent fasting. Fasting or intermittent fasting is emerging as a new approach and is indicating potential long-term health advantages. This article examines the effects of fasting on human health, focusing specifically on body composition, metabolism, cardiovascular health, and mental wellness.
